A Washed Chinese New Year

Photobucket

So after 2 years forced to stay in Melbourne for summer semesters, finally I'm able to enjoy a Chinese New Year with my family again. However, this was not an enjoyable one because of another big flood happened exactly on Chinese New Year.

Fortune enough, my grandparents' home is not affected. But the road to town was cut-off by flood. The worse, electricity was cut-off too for safety reason because another village nearby which shares the same source is flooded.

Even the new year eve "团圆饭" was cancelled because my family was the only ones that made it home on that day, by leaving our car behind and walk across flooded water. I regret that I was unable to take a photo when we walking across the flooded road as my hands were full of packages. And because of the flood, there was almost non visiting between relatives too.

This year, was the least festival atmosphere Chinese New Year I have experienced...

Photobucket

However, there was one thing good about that actually. Without television, computer and quite bad reception of mobile phone, everyone spent more time gathering and interacting each others. I'm this year's new year was the one I talked the most to my cousins whom I usually meet once a year. Like the advertisement I watched awhile ago: Disconnect to Connect!

Capture the Stars

Photobucket

Awkward. Rushing the awesome load of assignments I've accumulated through the semester, thanks to my laziness. Looking at the sky, I find calm. It's cloudy tonight... I miss the stars.

Everytime I amazed by the scenic of the stars, I wish I could take a photo and capture the moment. But amateur compact camera just incapable to sense the dim light of stars. The photo was my last attempt to capture the night sky in Phillip Island with new bought camera. But still, a compact camera cant do SLR quality.

--------------------------
----------------------------CRAP ALERT -----------------------------------------------------

I'm not an island-escape type of person, but I do enjoy stare at the night sky when having vacation in a remote island. Look up into the sky at night, and you will realize there are countless galaxies above you. You cant see that many stars in urban area because man-made light have stolen the brightness of the stars. And slowly people tend to forget how beautiful they are.

Have you heard of a legend: Stars are not only guidances for direction, but also guidances for soul. People attracted by artificial light on ground nowadays instead of look up the sky for stars. That's why they are lost.

Look up and go on.
Because you'll become jealous or frightened if you look to your sides or below you.
The one who seek the stars will look beyond.

Sold

Photobucket

Not that I never sell thing through internet before, but finally my 1st sell in ebay. Thank you Genieve for her leftover Charming Enzyme parcel, saving my afford to find out how to pack up the goodie for posting it.

Photobucket

By the way, this is what I sold. An unwanted figure from a limited edition game. Why I bought a limited edition? Because it's cheaper than normal version ($50 vs $55). Unbelievable? Yea, that's how silly it is. Furthermore, by selling of this for $10 profit. I'm only paying a bargain $40.

Cure My Lazy

Photobucket

I'm sooo lazy!

It got a bit better with momentum building up slowly since start of this sem until week 4. But an Easter break had completely put me back to holiday state.

Been doing assignments the night before due dates and starting to hearing "alien language" in classes.

Rage!

Fake Controller

Photobucket

Few days ago, I received my purchase of PS3 controller that I bought from ebay in hope that I can share some fun playing PS3 with ZhengWei, Darryl and other friends.

But the excitement soon worn off as I discovered the controller is missing Dualshock3 label, which is Sony trademark for their controller. I researched in internet and identified that, it isn't a genuine product. It's a fake!

Hence, I contacted the ebay seller and was surprised that he told me it's stated a fake in the description. I read the description again, and yes it is. I felt nothing but how naive I am. Well... Despite the unreasonable cheap price, what I hope for? 40AUD is 60% cheaper than Australia retail and 40% of Malaysia's. I was just ignoring this fact and hope for the best that it will be a recon. Frog won't jump around the street, lesson learned again.

At least, the controller is really a masterpiece of fake. Equivalent the Grade AA LV handbag that need authority to buy *claimed*. I don't really mind if this cheaper alternative works well for me.

However I came across a news while researching for fake controller that there was an apocalypse for fake controller a year ago. Where all fake controller malfunction because of the firmware 3.0 update. From what I see, my controller should be the improved 2nd generation fakes. This really makes me worry my controller will die one day.

There will be a firmware update today... Hope my controller can last a year or two to fulfill his life span...

ps: Thank you ZhengWei from sharing half of the controller cost. You should really play PS3 more with me to make ur 20 bucks worthy.

Semester Project

Task: Passing Baton between 2 devices.

My team were using Lego Racer and Lego Brainstorm with cardboard buildup for the task. See the video here.

Codename: Bumblebee

Seriously, those are the names we used in our report. Another teammate and I even coloured them.. LoL...

However, unfortunately my team failed the second run because we didn't realised a gear got loosen after the impact of the first run. I'm so regretful and blaming myself because I went for class instead of the troubleshooting trial the day before the actual run... I can't believe my teammates will leave flaws in our device so irresponsibly!

As a conclusion, a HD for this subject is a gone case now... >.<

Days without computer: 17

Photobucket

This month is a frustrating period of time, as nothing went accordingly to my will. My laptop died and when I decided to buy a decent desktop from Dell , I missed a bargain offer. ($200 cash off when you made $100 upgrades.) I hold grudge, because of the timing. Come on! The promotion ended exactly the day my laptop died! And the offers get crapper and crapper making me regret not taking the previous offers. What the **** was that Mr. God as if you exist? Are you having fun toying me?

Now I had to wait until Dell make at least a satisfying offer so that I can make a purchase. And that will be at least 1 week adding another 1 week of delivery time. Worse case, I might have to wait for weeks until a decent offer.

ps: Forgot to mention, that even the pendrive I use to back up all setups of programmes I attached to and Firefox's add-ons also spoiled last week... HE screwed me completely...

These Days...

Photobucket

24 Feb 2009 - My beloved HP laptop burst, the Screen died. With warranty expired, I sent it to repair for $400. But 3 days after returned, it went abnormal again... This time it's the graphic card's faulty... Repairing that will be definitely more than $400. So I decided not to repair it because I'll be able to buy a decent computer with $1000, why I have to use it to repair the laptop. My biggest regret is that I bought this, my first laptop far too expensive. What I learnt from this experience is "Never buy a laptop cost more than RM3000!"

My laptop's condition nowadays is like an old man - I only can switch it on for few hours with extra light usage before it shutdown itself of exhaustion. Which means, no gaming no video and not even photoshop! And I also accidentally lost most of my drama and anime when recovering my window from a crash.

Photobucket

However. Having minimum time sitting in front of computer these days, I've went for outdoor activities more often. Which I feel... Not bad at all! I was really depressed the first few days my laptop went wrong, but I'm cool with it now. At least I'm still have a healthy body and some good friends around me. Actually I've started to plan on buying a desktop here since I'll still staying in Melbourne for at least 3 years, but at the same time I feel quite guilty for being wasteful... Well, I guess it's just a matter of time before the devil in my heart win the war for me to buy it...

Summer Scent

Photobucket

Fully powered Sun - so the Summer finally arrived.

I thought it will be already Summer the day I reached Melbourne, everyone thought the same. But the moment I stepped outside of arrival hall at 5am, I was freezing... There were some hot days between Spring days last week, but it's still cooler than Summer should be. Weather forecast had predicted high temperatures for the whole coming week, so I believes that it's real Summer.

Photobucket
Summer's sky.... No cloud at all.

Photobucket
It's so hot that even flowers withered.

In fact, I don't like Summer. Because I prefer night over day... Having day time from 6am to 9pm during Summer really pissed me off. Furthermore, walking under the angry Sun for 15 minutes both to and from classes is killing me! I'll have to drink 2Litres of water everytime I reached my room to avoid dehydration.

Summer, Summer go away. I want my lovely freezing days...

This the the exactly same place from my Spring post.

Good Luck My Dear

Photobucket

Finally, the last person of H2Fp gang went further his study in Nottingham.

**Skipped all "geli-geli" words**.

Having most fun time gaying with him back in Inti. I think I won't have chance to meet Joey for quite a long time. All the best. Love You Forever!

RMIT, I'm coming!

Photobucket

Finally, my eVisa has been approved. Which means that I'm ready to fly. Still got many things to settle though. Haven't buy bank draft for tuition fee, haven't change Aussie Dollar, haven't pack luggages, haven't cut my hair.... And it's only 1 week left.

Well, actually the excitement only last for few hours after I got my offer letter. What left after that are worries. Worry that I can't adapt the environment, worry that I can't catch up the class, worry that I can't conduct English well.... But I think these are challenges that will make me strong.

Anyway, I would like to thank Jovie (weekdays) and Joey (weekends) who provided me a place to sleep when I need to go IDP in Subang. Jovie, help me take back my Student ID one day yea! LoL~ Joey, I think we can't meet at all coming 4 years.. Gonna miss two of you!

And then are Darryl and Zennway. One will be my uni. senior and one will be my living senior... So,

WhyWai's Pasta

Finally, my mom was backed from hometown. So I cooked my last pasta yesterday, as I won't cook in near future anymore...

Presenting: Beans in Tomato Sauce + Sausages Pasta (looks disgusting... *swt)

Photobucket

I fall in love with making pasta these days because it's easy and fun. I just simply find any canned food in kitchen and make my pasta. I tried Sardine, Mushroom Soup and Mutton Curry (This one taste worst).

Making pasta always remind me of the spaghetti cooked by Cc. + Teck Hong + Tjin. It's delicious, I'm regretful that I didn't see properly how they made the sauce.

Actually, the truth was I couldn't see clearly!
Photobucket

It was a weekend. Zennway suddenly came and told me Cc. invite us to eat spaghetti when I was lying lazily on bed . I thought we just have to 'Eat & Go', so I didn't bother to wear my glasses. Who knows it was a 'Let's cook together' party. I was in 'blur blur' mode for the whole party...

Zennway was performing some BreakDance on the table while waiting to eat.

I have compressed both mp3. Shouldn't take long time to load. Enjoy~ (It's Cantonese)

The Road Not Taken

Photobucket

The Road Not Taken - Reminded of this poem learnt in Form 4 few days ago.

After a long consideration, I decided not to resit IELTS for 3rd time because I feel really annoyed. Instead I had requested for a remark of my previous paper but the chance are very slim. So entering Melbourne University is no longer my priority choice.

On the other hand, I decided to apply for RMIT without using my IELTS as Darryl proposed. Still, this is also a try luck method.

Spent hours staring at the ceiling every night before sleep these days to think of my future plans. What if my attempt to apply for RMIT's Engineering Degree fail? Should I take RMIT's Associate Degree, which doesn't appeal me because it sounds like Diploma level? Or should I take twinning program in Malaysia? If so, which local institute should I go?

I have reached in front of a junction, and I need to make a hard decision.
A choice that makes my life completely different,
yet my knowledge to choose is not sufficient.
I look down the roads as far as I can, but all of them seem to be the same.
Which road actually suit me most? I hope somebody can tell me that.
This is the point of no return, and I need to make a hard decision.

A Fairytale

Long time ago, there was a young farmer. Although his life was not wealthy, he still live happily because he satisfied with his current condition. One day, he saved a bird found injured in his little farm. He wrapped up its wound and gave it a plate of milk before sleep. In the midnight, the farmer awoke by a beautiful lady. And the beauty told him she was the bird he saved just now.

"You saved my life young man. I'm a fairy from the wonderland. I'll tell you a secret in return. A secret to become a fairy, just like me. In the jungle north from here, there is a cave. Inside the cave, there is an apple tree. Eat the apple, and you shall become one of us." Finishing her words, the fairy change into a bird again and flew away. The farmer stunned by what he saw.

The next morning, he decided to search for the apple tree the fairy told him. After a long journey he finally found a cave. He walked deep into the dark cave, and what appeared in front of him was a very tall apple tree with apples hanging highly on it. The farmer start to think: "The tree is tall, but I think I still can climb it and pick an apple." The farmer's mind was filled with desire to become a fairy.

"Ah!" The farmer slipped and fell from the tree. He broke his left arm, but he did not gave up although he was in pain. "It's just a mistake, I just stepped on a wrong branch. I can reach the top if I climb more carefully." So he stood up and start climbing again.

"Arggh!" And again, he fell. He climbed to a higher place before falling, causing heavier injury than the first time. This time, he broke his right leg. The pain of broken arm and leg made the farmer suffered. He finally realized, it's beyond his capability to reach an apple. But he was too late to regret. It was impossible for him to go back alone with his injury now. He had no choice but to believe that he can get an apple.

He rested for awhile before he start climbing for the third time. In his mind, he understood that it was his last try and last hope. If he fall again and break his remaining arm or leg, he wouldn't be able to climb the tree nor return to his home anymore......

Giant's Scam !!

Giant Hypermarket was having sales last week. My mom wanna buy a few discounted plastic cabinets, so we paid a visit.

I think it has been more than 10 years since pricing with barcode in supermarkets proliferated in Malaysia. Yes, it does save a lots of time. But these supermarkets also take advantage on this system's weakness - customers can't read barcode, don't they? They will put confusing price tags to cheat consumers. E.g. : Put different but similar products' price on one single board. Customers are likely to mistakely took the expensive 1 in fact they planned to buy the cheap 1.

No doubt, Giant is one of them.

While we waiting the casher to confirm with her manager, I saw another aunty having a same situation too. So I went check it out.

We managed to avoid being overpriced because we bought only the cabinets. If people is buying a lots of stuffs which price's differences aren't that great, it's not possile to notice on spot.

Stay focus on the barcode scanner when paying!

Few hours ago, the only loyal reader of this blog had departed to Melbourne for his next level studies. Feel really miserable because we supposed to fly together now but I failed to meet the English requirement. Ms. Marie Hills was right, it's a shame to being such weak in English. I'm very grateful that I'm lucky enoungh to have a second chance for July intake. Just registered to retake IELTS on 29th March today. Melb. U is my 1st ambitious in my life after being 'easy go lucky' for 20 years. I'll try the hardest I can to get myself there.

Zennway. Good luck! Sorry for unable to keep our promise to go together. Lefting u to face new enviroment alone... Please pray for me while waiting me there. Dun left me behind ur mind after reach there, I still need ur guidance.

"Fitting" the house.

Traditionally, Chinese New Year was celebrated for 15 days. But unfortunely, my CNY only last for 4 days this year because our luggages from Sabah finally arrived at 4th day of the new year. So we have no free time to waste because seeing boxes and begs all around the house is really annoying.

Boxes, boxes, and boxes... Hello all, we meet again!

Frankly, I don't mind clearing the mess. But I really frustrated when I discovered that actually only a quarter of them is things that we really 'use' is daily life. In rough way, the rest of 70% can be categorized as junk! When I tried to give comments, I'll ends up scolded by my parents for being wasteful. Especially those antique electronic products. I'm just telling that we wont use them anymore, why don't we just keep in store 1st. For example, a LD player! You know what is LD? I bet some of you had never heard it before. It's LaserDisc, a product before the era of CompactDisc.

Wow, come on... What for u bring 3 old kettles and 4 old rice-cookers while you will never use them? Talking of 'old', I meant those really antique models which are the production of early 90an. And I don't understand why my father brought 3 boxes of Annual Plantation Report by Planter's Club to home? 3 boxes of annual reports, u can imagine how many years of reports there are. Even they are really useful, put them in office! However, this still count reasonable compare to some ridiculous things that my parents brought:

Happy New Year ! Happy Rise Taxes !

A new year came while I'm headache about my application for Uni. of Melb. Really a bad start for 2008... Putting that sad story aside... Well, basiclly there are 2 things everyone need to do in the very beginning of a year.
1. Plan the year.
2. Pay the year. I mean... the taxes.

I went accompany my mom to several government departments to pay up all sort of taxes today. After 4 days off, it's no doubt that these places is gonna fill will crowd of good citizens that planning to pay their bills.

Our 1st destination is to pay Housing tax. A long queqe in front of the counter to pay Housing tax. I'm kinda pissed off because there were actually 3 counters operating, but the other 2 counters that in charge of other business never bother to help make the queqe move faster even there were no people dealing with them.
Photobucket
Soon, there were discussion on the increased taxes because someone's Housing tax rised about 300% from RM7XX to RM2XXX. But it's found later that the rises depend on areas. Mostly increased around 60-90% and the one with 300% increased rate is the most critical one. Our house only increased around RM10 only. Afterall, it's still a shock news since the taxes never rised that much for years... Not sure about other states...

Photobucket
JPJ Office. Another place that rised my blood pressure. You believes that only 1 counter on duty in the early morning?

Event's Costume

Since I'm soo free these days, I spent times recall my memories in Inti. Then I suddenly think of the costumes I have. I do have some club's costumes during secondary school. But I think Inti college is the only place that has the trend "Every Event Got It's Costume". Dunno how is trend come from. As during my secondary school, we will just wear our club costumes when helding activities.

Actually I found that it's the unique and fun part for club activities in Inti. Everytimes I take part in an activity, the 1st thing i care about is will there be a new pretty T-shirt for me? And although I'm not talented in art, I found myself very interest in designing a T-shirt. Zennway who is a little talented always asked to design T-shirt. So I always gave comments to him and ask him to draw. Until sometimes I also think that myself is too annoying... Luckily he's a kind person and didn't mind me.

Unfortunately, I'm not an active club member. I joined Buddhist Society, STACT Club and Chinese Cultural Society before but not really into them. So my costume collection is rather limited. I bet the person have the most costume is Kuan Sim. LoL... he was committee of both STACT and Adventure which are most active clubs in Inti. We always joke on him that he came Inti to join club but not study...

This should be our Buddhist Camp's T-shirt. I rushed by FuLung, the O.C. to complete in 3 hours from 1 a.m. But sadly unable to print it due to lack of funding.

Another regretful thing of mine in Inti is unable to print out a T shirt for H2Fp. I keep pushing Zennway to design 1 for us but he's busying with other things. Cannot blame him actually. Sometimes I even give my words too hard until he a bit angry...

This is my version of design, which at least i hope we can have a visual one even though we don't have a real one.
