Friends, I almost burnt the microwave!

It's as idiotic as I always be, I forgot to fill water before sending the pasta into microwave and got away from kitchen. By the time I smell burnt, the kitchen had flooded with thick smoke. Everything in house smell burnt and the container is gone. Luckily the microwave still functional.

Sorry to my house-mates and owner of microwave, Teck Hong.

Ok, for your amusements

Khalil Concert

Photobucket
3D glasses a.k.a Khalil glasses

"You fly here, and I'll go with u."

That's what I told Genieve, when she asked us for Khalil Fong concert. I didn't know that she was serious about that.. So in the end, she came and we go for it. My 1st concert ever in my life.

Photobucket
Palais Theater, venue of the concert

I would say that attending a small scale concert in theater is far more my cup of tea than a large concert in stadium. I believe that I'll bee fainted the moment I see thousands of people in stadium.

Photobucket
Fiona & Khalil

Quite a fun experience. But I have to confess that I hardly listen to songs from both the stars of the night. In fact I think there were only 2 or 3 songs that I actually heard before. XD

Photobucket
Scale on our view of the people on stage.

Our seats were quite far behind, but I think it's good enough since I still manage to see the faces on stage. It's fun that 4 of us who went were all 1st timer. And were "wowed" when we saw people in front of us went well-prepared with binocular and super zooming camera.

Photobucket
Clearest shot of Khalil we got.

ps: A busy playing weekends with Genieve visit to Melbourne. I enjoyed a lot. Looking forward for another fun weekends.

Dragonboat Festival

Rice Dumpling + Tea = love

If I'm not wrong, today should be our Mid Autumn Festival. Yesterday, we were treated with rice dumplings by TeckHong's auntie which I really appreciated because I love rice dumplings. Really miss the variety of dumplings back in home that only pop out during what I know as dumpling festival instead of Dragon-boat. Argh, got myself hungry thinking about them...

Once again, I'm benefit under TeckHong's "One Dragon" service. It's glad to be her housemate.

Cure My Lazy

Photobucket

I'm sooo lazy!

It got a bit better with momentum building up slowly since start of this sem until week 4. But an Easter break had completely put me back to holiday state.

Been doing assignments the night before due dates and starting to hearing "alien language" in classes.

Rage!

Temporary Resident

Photobucket

Recently our Latrobe hideout became even more lively with an addition of temporary member - Genieve from Adelaide, friend of Darryl. Temporary member as in she just arrived in Melbourne and still searching for a shelter.

To my surprise, Genieve likes to take photo a lot. This brings up memories in Inti life with camera. Miss the days fooling around with Joey and ThongChin where stupid photos were taken almost everyday no matter we are studying, eating or traveling.

Losser...

Photobucket

Yes, I did it again... This time, lost my mobile phone. Sony Ericsson W610 - simply my favorite mobile up to date. I did consider just keep on using that phone for years despite it's not a high-end mobile. Too bad, I lost it on last Wednesday.

I really hate myself for being so careless. Seriously. I always remind myself of 3 important things whenever I'm going out: Wallet, Keys & Mobile. Sarcastically, I lost each of them respectively each semester in this one and a half year.

Experience this time is much more frustrated than the lost of wallet and keys last year. Because I actually realised I dropped my phone just a few minutes after walked from tram stop to the elevator of my apartment. I actually run along the tram route from my stop until waterfront city to chase back the tram. I did saw the tram while I'm chasing but couldn't managed to catch it. If only the tram stops distant is nearer as stops in city center... I should able to retrieve my phone.

Sigh~~~

Silent Night

Photobucket

Trying to take a photo of the night view from my balcony. Unfortunately my mobile phone is not capable for decent night vision.

This is the 1st time I live so high away from ground and with a big floor-to-ceiling window. Maybe 8th floor is not really that 'tall' but it's surely something new for me. Certainly 8th floor is no way tall enough for a city landscape view. But just gazing at the night make me claim.

Alone in house may be lonely at times, but the silence is very comfortable too. Especially in front of the night. In hours, my housemates are coming to join me in this apartment. Farewell my lonely yet silent life. I'll definitely miss you sometimes...

New Apartment.

Photobucket

It was a hard month. Home alone, house in mess and no internet connection.

The first time I stepped in this new apartment, it's 5a.m. in the morning and in dark. Hong Hong told me to stay in airport until sun rises because there's no electricity in our apartment yet, but I just couldn't stay in airport any longer after sitting half sleep there for 5 hours. The apartment was darker than I expected. Luckily I've always bring along a torchlight which allowed me look for a place in the mess to rest myself. Opened up windows, I lied on the sofa and eventually fall sleep. That's my 1st day here...

It's really suck when you are alone in house and furthermore without internet. Here I have to give a very big credit to beloved Sony who decided to drop his PS3 price on a right timing which save me from infinite boredom. Haha... It's suck without internet, but it's fantastic with PS3! I'm really glad that I bought a PS3... XD

At first I was worried that here will be less convenient as it's a bit far from city center. But I was so wrong... This location is wonderful! Having tram station right in front with Melbourne City Circle that provide free transportation to city center every 10 minutes. Coles supermarket also just located only 100m away. How do I put it... As expected from Hong Hong who rent this place..

I'm glad that everything is fine, at least for now and with internet established. The rest I'll just wait until both my reliable housemates to come back. Let's have fun here!

**Apology for random Genie photo spam as header. XD It's a replacement because I can't transfer photos from my mobile. Want to change a new mobile asap!

Good bye! Another Milestone.

Photobucket

Yesterday I just finished my exam. Tomorrow I'm going back to Malaysia. And Today, is my last day staying in Unilodge.

Leaving Melbourne this time is much heavier than previous time because the changes are massive. After staying in Unilodge for one and a half year since i came Melbourne, finally it's time to move out and stay in an apartment. I've always wanted to stay in an apartment because it feels more home-like. But it's hardly to have many people gathering together for dining and chill out like what we always do in such student accommodation as Unilodge, which I'll be missed for sure.

Besides that, the end of 2nd Year also means the end of common years of my Engineering course where students will proceed to subjects corresponding to their specific majors. Mechanical, Automotive, Manufacturing and etc... The worse, most of my friends are taking different major with me.

So next semester, I'm going to be separated with 70% of the people I know in Melbourne. Hmm... I'm a bit melancholy now...

I did it again!

Photobucket

After few busy weeks with assignments, finally it's study week. Enjoying blankness in my life, I tried to boil a pot of green bean soup that I haven't made one since last semester break. Hence, I burned the 3rd pot in Melbourne!

I admit, it's always my own fault for letting the pot in the kitchen... But, if only the kitchen is NOT 3 rooms away from my room! That's one of the great reason that I wanna have our own kitchen.

How ur lecturers return ur papers?

How did your lecturers return your test or assignment papers?

Unlike tutorial exercises that tutors can give feedback to us one by one, it's always a problem in my course for lecturers to return tests and assignments to us because most lecturers fulfill their lecture hours to talk as much as they can regardless educative or not. Here are the few ways I classified after 1 year of observations.

Garbage Collector - "Dispose and collect if you want."
Photobucket
For less important papers, such as class quiz and class exercises (especially for maths subject that don't have tutorial). Lecturers usually will just leave the marked papers in from of faculty and ask students to pick up theirselves.

Beggar - "Don't rush, everyone will get his soon."
Photobucket
For most mid semester tests. Papers are distributed hand to hand because of 'privacy' issue. Don't really understand what so privacy about test scores though. After class, lecturer will call out names 1 by 1 and students will crowded around lecturer as in they can't wait to leave the lecture hall.

Patient - "xxx, it's your turn for diagnosis!"
Photobucket
Sometimes, lecturer would like to have some personal feedback with minority of the students. So he will give a list of student numbers that have to stay after class, and call their names or just queue up 1 by 1 for feedback.

Tekken 6 Statue!

I went JB Hi-Fi for a walk and checking out new games few days ago, and I saw this.

Photobucket

Super kool real size Jin and Kazuya pointing their fists at each other. It stated that the statue is sponsored by the game distributor, Namco himself and will be given away through a sort of lucky draw.

I'm not a die hard fan of Tekken, but I have been playing the game since Tekken 3. It's kinda hyped when I saw the statue for the first time. Anyway, if I won this statue.... I will definitely selling it in ebay! :D

Hello, Blog

Oh my god... I haven't update my blog for 40 days. In fact it wasn't that I'm too busy to update, but because of the slow internet.

Actually, it has been customary that I used up our download quota before the next month. Just that the day reached more and more early from few days before and then a week. Finally last month my download-holic seem to be overwhelmingly gone insane that our download quota of 20GB finished in just 1 week time. Leaving ZhengWei and me basically a Dial-Up speed internet for the next 3 weeks. It's so slow that I even lazy to check my student email!

Seriously, sorry to my beloved roommate. I promise that won't happen anymore. Maybe we should subscribe a 100Gb/month internet plan when we moved to new place next year, kool? XD

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1 more thing, I lost my room key 2 weeks ago. The key is security acts protected, cannot and not possible to make a copy. So I had paid 150AUD to Unilodge to change a new lock. Seriously...

Zennway & Me

Photobucket
Zw^^ (Aug09)

Both as the victims of the "Heat Problem" brand - HP, ZhengWei's laptop also burnt last week exactly same symptoms as mine back in March. Also he decided to buy a Dell desktop, which is budget and decent. :D

Photobucket
Me^^ (Mar09)

Despite all the similarities of the situation we shared, there is one solid difference between us - which is FORTUNE.

Me: Burnt exactly 1 year, 2 weeks after my global warranty expired. Further Wasted $300 by sending it to a mob-shop to repair and ended up worse.
Zw: Burnt after optimum lifespan of 2 years for a laptop. Seriously 2 and 1/2 years is kinda acceptable.

Me: Burnt few days after I 'cut and paste' all data from harddisks borrowed from friends after reformatting my laptop. Everything trapped in laptop.
Zw: Burnt after he bought a new portable harddisk and transferred most data into it.

Me: Missed Dell's $200 rebate promotion by 2 days. And Can't even get a decent promotion after waiting for 3 weeks. (Dell's promotions refresh every week)
Zw: Dell gives a price slash by RM500 for the desktops the day before he buy.

Well, I bet his order will also arrived within 3 weeks or even much earlier. Rather than my 3 estimated + 3 delayed = 6 weeks of waiting before my order arrived.

This is a post of jealousy.

The Day The Sink Strikes

For a year, our sink took everything we poured into it. We brush teeth, wash cups and rinse feet on it. But one day, it can't compromises anymore and refuses to accept our water. Having its revenge, it started to flood our room by vomiting stinky water.

Photobucket

Here's another little side story in our room. Last Friday, our sink suddenly got stuck after Zhengwei brushed his teeth before sleep. Initially we thought it's the U-pipe that stucked, but the next day we realised the situation was worse. stinky and dirty water started to flood out from the sink. It wasn't the U-pipe but the main pipe. Since our room is in the lowest floor, the waste water from upper floors was trapped and flooded out from our sink... How disgusting!

Photobucket

A repairman came when I went to class, but he recognized a pipe specialist is needed for the task and hence leaved us without any help. Luckily he left his spanner in our room.

Photobucket

So I removed the U-pipe so that the waste water can directly drop into a bucket instead of splitting everywhere wetting the carpet when the sink flooded.

Photobucket

In past few days, me and Zhengwei gained a full-time job as cleaner as we have to discharge the waste water from other rooms to toilet whenever the bucket is fulled.

Fortunately, the pipeman came today and finally fix the pipe. Phew... What a screw up experience...

Semester Project

Task: Passing Baton between 2 devices.

My team were using Lego Racer and Lego Brainstorm with cardboard buildup for the task. See the video here.

Codename: Optimus Prime

Codename: Bumblebee

Seriously, those are the names we used in our report. Another teammate and I even coloured them.. LoL...

However, unfortunately my team failed the second run because we didn't realised a gear got loosen after the impact of the first run. I'm so regretful and blaming myself because I went for class instead of the troubleshooting trial the day before the actual run... I can't believe my teammates will leave flaws in our device so irresponsibly!

As a conclusion, a HD for this subject is a gone case now... >.<

Easter with Dell

Photobucket
Just Married.

Well, the delivery date for my computer I mentioned last post turned out to be a super conservative estimation from Dell so I wont send them complain email anymore. Luckily, my new Dell Slim Studio arrived 1 day before the Easter Break which enhanced my holiday so much.

Photobucket

23" LCD + Creative sound card. Seriously, it's close to a home theater system in our small room. LoL~

Photobucket

Typically for me. The first thing I did after received my new computer is to change Window Vista into 'Window WhyWai'. Losing almost everything in my laptop, it took me few days to search out the applications that I fond to. Especially those with cracks. Didn't do much customizations as the old days though, lazy....

WHAT THE HECK !

Photobucket

3 WEEKS DELAYED!!! What the heck!! This is my 3rd post raging about computer! I know this got bore. But damn it! What's going on with my life? They sent me email after confirmation of payment telling me my order will delivered before 6 April. It has been 2 weeks but it's still in process of assembling! I sent an email to confirm the delivery date and what they told me is they are out of stock and my order is delayed not 1 week, not 2 weeks. But 3 f*cking Weeks!

Photobucket

Deliver in 7-10 working days? It's f*cking 35 days now!! F*ck you Dell! If you out of stock, you should state it out. That's what online shops must do. But instead u shown "Parts Ready To Manufacture" when I'm making order. This is cheating!

AgRhhh!!!!
