A Washed Chinese New Year

Photobucket

So after 2 years forced to stay in Melbourne for summer semesters, finally I'm able to enjoy a Chinese New Year with my family again. However, this was not an enjoyable one because of another big flood happened exactly on Chinese New Year.

Fortune enough, my grandparents' home is not affected. But the road to town was cut-off by flood. The worse, electricity was cut-off too for safety reason because another village nearby which shares the same source is flooded.

Even the new year eve "团圆饭" was cancelled because my family was the only ones that made it home on that day, by leaving our car behind and walk across flooded water. I regret that I was unable to take a photo when we walking across the flooded road as my hands were full of packages. And because of the flood, there was almost non visiting between relatives too.

This year, was the least festival atmosphere Chinese New Year I have experienced...

However, there was one thing good about that actually. Without television, computer and quite bad reception of mobile phone, everyone spent more time gathering and interacting each others. I'm this year's new year was the one I talked the most to my cousins whom I usually meet once a year. Like the advertisement I watched awhile ago: Disconnect to Connect!
