Gentlemen, lets rock'n roll!
The best part of my engineering course - less frustrating reading and essay writing assignments. One of main task given to us this semester was to design and build a "chicken launcher". After 6 weeks of struggle, we finally had our "launching day" last Wednesday.
Each group was given a set of woods and a rubber band. Our task is to build a device using the elastic energy of the rubber band to launch a PVC chicken into a bucket. We are free to locate the bucket, and the score is given by (Distant travel x Accuracy).
So this is my group's launcher. It only managed to launch the chicken for 2.8m while most teams actually launched around 5m. To be frank, my group scored quite a low mark which ranked us around 30 out of 40 groups. Actually I felt a bit unfair, the rules stated that we can't attach our device on the floor. But most groups used tapes to stick their devices on floor because their devices are very unstable for powerful launch, and our advisers compromised them. Our device is the only that use no tape. This sounds like giving excuse, but nevermind... Our group still won the "most amount of members" award. The active members in a group is commonly 4. But due to some circumstance, we got 6! LoL~
Anyway, it's a fun and enjoyable project because I don't have to deal with books and our project advisers are more interesting than those lecturers as well. Can't wait for another project next year!
